Official Marylanders
I slept terribly last night because my minor neck/shoulder ache got worse--it must have been the way I was lying. I kept trying to get comfortable and nothing worked. I had no idea how I would be able to run in the morning. But, I got up, took Advil, stretched a little, and was off. I did not bring my iPod because I thought it would restrict my head motion even more. The verdict on today's (short) run was--better than the last couple. I explored some of the neighborhoods not too far from us and discovered some great hills. If only I was in shape for hills...but getting off the trail seemed good for my mind today, and hills force me to pick my legs up which in turn lessens my discomfort. It was quite hot even early in the morning, so I worked up quite a sweat without going all that far.
I didn't have very much time to work out because Matt and I had a date at the DMV--or MVA, as it is known in Maryland (why aren't these things standard across the country?). Our car registration for D.C. expired today so we had to bite the bullet and get new registration and new licenses. We got there before it opened and there was already a line outside. But it actually moved quickly and we were out of there in a little more than an hour. Impressive.
The rest of the day went by quickly and now we are awaiting the arrival of this weekend's visitors--Matt's mom and sister. They are waiting to take off at LaGuardia because of "possible thunderstorms." I hope they are looking forward to the scorching temps we are supposed to have this weekend! We will keep them entertained and air-conditioned.
Happy weekend to all!
