Keeping time
Today was meant to be a running day, but my knee was a little tender when I woke up and I decided that since I've been doing the every-other-day thing for awhile, maybe I should take an extra cross-training day. It's good for me to make these spur-of-the-moment decisions so that I can get practice at not being a slave to my schedule as much.
The one drawback to deciding to ride the trainer this morning was the fact that I woke up with a sore neck. Probably gym related--this seems to happen to me every so often. Biking probably wasn't the best thing for me, but it actually didn't bother me too much. I was most bothered by not having my watch! I brought down our kitchen timer but quickly realized that it would be way too annoying to have to keep resetting it for hill intervals. I just did it based on feel and judging by how tired my legs are today, I did a pretty good job. I watched another "Dexter" episode and then my usual 30 minutes of "junk."
I'm heading out of work a little early to meet up with a couple of friends for a concert at Wolf Trap, a great outdoor venue. It's pretty hot today but I think it will be fairly comfortable once the sun goes down...until then I think we will seek refuge in the shade. This is probably the 20th time I've seen the Indigo Girls in concert, but it's still a thrill every time--I can't wait!
