A real run, sort of
I just don't know what to think after runs these days. I never feel the same and it's almost never pain-free, yet this is the way my body is now and I am trying to make the best of it. So this morning I headed in the other direction on the Capital Crescent Trail than the way I've been going recently. I felt kind of stiff-legged on the jog over to the entrance to the Trail and the inside of my knees were both a bit achy, but once things started to loosen up, I felt a little better. I stayed on the non-paved shoulder of the trail as much as I could, and was reminded that there is a part of the trail that is unpaved for a good distance (the last time I went that way was during a 22-mile run, I think). I turned around at about 25 minutes or so and headed back, and this man started running right behind me. I mean, right behind me. Eventually he passed me, but then I was right behind him. Whatever--as long as it kept my mind occupied. I decided on a "pure," non-iPod run today, which was kind of refreshing.
When I was almost back, my knees actually felt okay. The rest of the day they've been a bit achy. But not too bad, so I'm pretty happy. I think tomorrow will be a bike day so I'll see how they feel then.
My work day was busy, especially for a Friday when so many people were out of the office! I was anxious to get home and download the new iPhone software, but I've only had a chance to do it now, after a nice dinner in Bethesda with Matt's dad who is in town for the weekend. Matt and I walked all the way back and now I am trying to cool off. It's really not that hot out, but...this is me!
Happy weekend to all!
