Fun day with the 'rents
My parents are in town for a wedding this weekend--one of those weddings with tons of events, from the rehearsal dinner to a cocktail party to a morning-after brunch. But it's been many years since they've been to D.C. (we are in NY fairly often) so I was looking forward to showing them around both our current and new 'hoods. I was on the bike by about 8am so that I'd get my workout of the way--I watched "The Savages" which I had wanted to see but missed when it was in theaters. It was pretty depressing, although well done. I love Laura Linney in all her roles and Philip Seymour Hoffman is always good too. It just wasn't the best movie to bike to. I made it through though no worse for the wear.
After speed cleaning the apartment, I went to get my parents at their hotel and then we walked around Adams Morgan for a bit. Then we all (Matt too) drove up to see the new house and the neighborhood. We ended up doing quite a bit of walking and my knee was bothering me a little. It's just annoying because I can never not think about it--it's always a little swollen so some steps bother me more than others. We walked to get a sandwich, walked back to the house and then drove up to downtown Bethesda to do some more walking around. It was a beautiful, non-humid day in the 70s so we weren't the only ones out and about! But now I am about ready for a nap!
