Keeping my ahead above water

This week has been really pleasant, weather-wise. I might not think that if I were running outside these mornings, but it is at least nice for walking around before and after work. I opened the window behind me while I was on the bike this morning, though, and there really wasn't much air circulation. I just don't want to turn the air conditioning on yet--because I know it will be on for months and months pretty soon. My knee felt okay on the bike but I still noticed some swelling issues throughout the day. It's not visibly swollen or anything, but it catches sometimes, especially when getting up from sitting down, so I'm hoping that feeling will eventually go away. It has also been sore in the back, and I don't know if that is just my usual behind-the-knee pain or a result of the healing process. Let's hope for the latter.

I wasn't in the mood to do my usual biking/lifting tonight at the gym, so I swam (using the term loosely). First I did some ab stuff and then I went to the pool. I was sharing a very skinny lane and I think that made me extra aware of my stroke which is already inefficient to begin with. I felt very out of sync and just super slow. I want to swim more regularly, but I need to take a couple of lessons. I am thinking of asking for that for my birthday, but we'll see.

Matt is at his second Nationals game of the season tonight--he's always getting offered free tickets. Must be nice! I am taping all of my Thurs. night shows ("Grey's" is back tonight!) so I can entertain myself on the bike. This morning I watched another "House" that involved surgery on a fetus and it kind of freaked me out. But next up was "The Hills"--a good way to make me forget totally about anything remotely sad or serious!

Comments

One of my censored comments was a link to the swim offering at the Bethesda YMCA. I took the stroke Development class at my local YMCA and found it helpful.
