Only what I had time for

The day is only half over, but I already know that I won't have time for another workout today. I had to leave the house around 8:30 this morning to make it to the conference on time, so there was no Saturday sleeping in for me. I ended up sleeping longer than I wanted to, but managed a short but decent trainer ride ("House" and "The Hills" entertained me again). I kept thinking about the fact that outside my window, runners were streaming by in the National Marathon and Half-Marathon. They had a nice, cool morning and I was very jealous. But I just have to stay positive about my knee and hope that next year that can be me! (Even if I'm not actually running, if I'm able to, that would be a small victory.)

My route into Virginia took me down Rock Creek Parkway and past a lot more runners out enjoying not the race, but just a beautiful spring morning and the recently bloomed cherry blossoms. I tried really hard not to resent them, but I did, I must admit.

The rest of my schedule today after the conference will take me further into Virginia (!) to a friend's baby shower and then we are having friends stay with us tonight. Hopefully they won't mind the sound of the early-morning trainer ride tomorrow!
