Another exciting day
I am waiting for Matt to get home with some of the ingredients for our dinner and I am a little bit worried that I will fall asleep sitting here on the couch! I have been a bit sleepy all day and I'm not sure why. Probably the combination of not getting enough sleep and continuing to get used to my new job and routine. I did manage to wake up with enough time for a brief run this morning. It was ridiculously warm--about 60 at 6am, and very humid. As you might imagine, I was quite uncomfortable! My legs didn't feel great, but they weren't too bad. I ran downtown toward the Convention Center and then in front of the White House (where cops on foot were directing pedestrians off of Pennsylvania Avenue for some reason) and back via K Street. It definitely took me a few minutes to cool off when I got back. I haven't been checking the weather too closely but I hope it is more normal February temperatures this weekend. This winter has been all ups and downs.
I was downtown all day at an association helping with a training session. It was pretty interesting and the people were all nice. But I never do that well sitting and listening to someone talk most of the day--I get fidgety or sleepy. The association director actually put out a bunch of pipe cleaners on the table for people to play with--I guess that's a tradition during long meetings there--and although I am not one to create things, it was kind of nice to have something to do with my hands while I listened.
The training ended around 4 and we all just headed home from there. I wanted to take a nap but I went to the gym for a little ellipticalling (I really don't like the stationary bikes there) and lifting. Now I am going to try and occupy myself so I don't fall asleep or eat my hand waiting for Matt to come home...
