Come on!

So stepping out of my co-worker's car last night when we got to our office party, I landed weirdly on my bad knee and started feeling a strangeness/soreness in the very back corner of it, almost near my calf. I massaged it and figured it would go away. But it was still bothering me when I went to sleep and even when I moved my leg while lying down. When I woke up, it didn't feel too bad and I didn't have enough time to bike, so I ran. I felt a little bit of tightness, but it did not bother me and I was relieved. But when I got home and had showered and everything and was walking to the bus, I realized it hurt again. When I got up after having been sitting for awhile, it was killing me. It did loosen up, which makes me think it's some sort of muscle tweak, but...please!! I cannot understand why I have become this person who practically gets injured every time she blinks!

I really don't think this is related to my other knee issues, and I'm trying to figure out if I maybe strained my popliteal tendon. I had a popliteal injury in the other leg a few years ago, but I remember it being more in the middle. This is very localized--I'll have to look back in my running logs. In any case, I am definitely down about it and will have to see how it feels the next couple of days. I plan to ice it tonight also, although it is kind of cold in my apartment so that will be a challenge.

I wasn't sure how my leg would feel biking when I went to the gym. It wasn't too bad; I just biked easy for awhile and then lifted. I also tried to stretch as much as I could because that seems to help overall. Cross your fingers that this is a quick setback and not another sign from above that I should throw in the towel completely. (I am still planning to discuss surgery with my doctor, but I don't see him for another couple of weeks.)
