Trying to keep up

Camille and I planned to meet at my place this morning because I couldn't stand the thought of running on the Canal again after doing that yesterday. I could tell that it was "fake cold" out when I stepped outside--much warmer than yesterday when I was mostly hot because I overdressed. As soon as we started running, I could tell that today was going to be one of those days where I was struggling to keep up the whole time. Camille doesn't run on Saturdays because she is a Seventh Day Adventist and spends most of the day in church. I, on the other hand, did a hilly longish run yesterday. Not to make excuses, but not being in great shape, a run like that takes a lot out of me!

I managed to stay with her until we got into the Park, and then she was a few steps ahead of me. Not far enough that I couldn't catch her, but my knee had tightened up on a downhill just before that and I really didn't want to push it. We stopped for the water fountain at the top of the last hill, and after that we stayed together. She hates urban runs because of the sidewalks and the tons of cross streets that you have to slow down for, but at least it slows her down! (The last 2 miles of the run are very much like that.)

Even though I got a good night's sleep last night--we didn't get home too late after the African feast, which was delicious--I fell asleep on the couch after eating breakfast. Once I recovered from my nap, I went to Whole Foods which was crazy with all the pre-Thanksgiving shoppers. I was glad to make it out unscathed and I actually got everything I needed.

I just rode the trainer while watching most of "ER" and now Matt is giving it a try while watching football. It's weird to see someone else on "my" bike!
