Overdressed
I got all caught up in the fact that it was chilly out when we came home last night and totally overdressed for my run this morning. (Incidentally, I just heard that it was going to be back near 70 in the middle of the week.) But during last weekend's long run, I wore a shirt that didn't wick well and I was freezing once it got wet. So today I put on one that wicks better, but it is definitely heavier and I was feeling suffocated before the first mile.
I met the DC Road Runners group at Iwo Jima although I didn't know if Leilani or any of the other people I have been running with would be there. It turned out that she was there and we ran in a little group most of the way. The route was really hilly. I've done it before and it's definitely front-loaded with hills since the last few miles are on the Canal. My knee actually loosened up after a little while and didn't bother me too much the first half of the run; it was a couple of the steep downhills that hurt me. But overall it wasn't too bad. Another girl I was running with and I decided to cut the planned 14-mile route by about 1.5 or 2 miles since neither of us are training for anything and the hills definitely tired us out. Although I was warm during the run, I was freezing as soon as I stopped and had to blast the heat in the car on the way home.
Today we have mostly been relaxing and we just got back from doing some errands on foot. Tonight we're invited to a friend's house for an African feast that her mom is cooking up. Not sure what's in store, but it sounds exciting.
