Not as hot as Chicago...
Ugh, I feel terrible for the Chicago Marathoners who had rough days out there today (everyone ran slower than they would have in ideal conditions, obviously, but some people, like Kate O'Neill and fellow blogger Bridget, came closer than I would have expected to meeting their goals). I am surprised they actually closed the course early but hopefully that helped some people out, especially the ones who would have been exposed to the heat and humidity for more than four hours. Things are probably still chaotic now but hopefully we'll learn more about what happened out there in the next few days.
It was pretty warm again this morning, although not quite as humid as yesterday. Camille and I met at my apartment and we ran along Connecticut Avenue to a nice big downhill that took us into Rock Creek Park. I tried to keep us in the shade as much as possible. My leg surprisingly felt pretty good, except for a couple of steep hills (the pes area still bothers me when going up particularly steep stairs as well). Camille totally kicked my butt on the last two hills, but it was nice to have company on another uncomfortable day.
Laura and I spent a couple of hours in the afternoon getting pedicures and going food shopping (my shopping, but we're cooking dinner tonight for the cousins so she was helping). Then we came back home and I biked for a little while ("The Hills" and "Tori and Dean") while Matt and Laura were out playing tennis.
I am psyched to have a three-day weekend, but it is tempered by the fact that we don't get Veterans Day off. Oh, well, you take what you can get!
