Long and slow
I ran longer this morning than I have in a long time, but it was at a very relaxed pace. I made it in the nick of time to the start of SLR (DC Road Runners Club slang for Saturday Long Run) and there were tons of people there, many of whom were running their last long run before next weekend's Marine Corps Marathon. Early forecasts are calling for a very hot end of the week, so hopefully the marathoners catch a break. Anyway, it's weird that I don't know that many people at these runs anymore, but Leilani and a few other girls I've run with before were around. Today's loop was the one that Lei and I did a couple of weeks ago, and I added on a bit with her today in her attempt to run close to 20 (she dropped me off at the start and did more; we did about 12 or 13 together).
I didn't feel great on the run, but not too bad either. Although the temperature was reasonable, it was still really humid and I was a bit bothered by it (shocker). My knee sort of ached on and off depending whether we were running up or down hills or on flat. I heard some grumblings about Chicago weather from people who were just getting back to training and caught up with a few folks I hadn't seen in a long time during the run, so it was a good time. I was sucking wind on the hills as usual but I felt just the tiniest bit more in control than when I did this run two weeks ago. So, I was pretty pleased.
I was bummed I didn't get to take a nap today, but I had a bunch of errands (including the Apple Store, where I finagled another Shuffle which hopefully will last me a couple of weeks) and we had early dinner plans. But my lack of nap means that I will most likely conk out on the couch very shortly...not that that's a bad thing.

Hooray long runs! Haha, I don't know, I just like long runs. Not that I've done any lately. I need to motivate myself to wake up early on the weekends, which is hard, heh.
