A long run, kind of

It was really, really, hard to get up in the dark this morning (and after going to bed way too late). It was even darker than usual this morning because the fog/humidity was so thick. It was very crowded at Iwo Jima (club long run starting point) because apparently the AIDS Walk this morning and people were parking there. I luckily found a spot not too far away and got there in time to meet Leilani. Most of the people are in marathon training mode now and were going on an out-and-back 20 miler. Lei and I did about 10--we were going to go out and back but I suggested making it into a loop. Unfortunately for me, it was a very hilly loop--I am so slow right now on hills. And going up steep hills is what unfortunately still bothers my knee/leg. But I can manage it by going slowly to make sure I don't chop my stride.

So anyway, it was great as always to catch up with Lei and we had a decent run once we got through the first bunch of hills at the beginning. It was super humid and I really hope that the Chicago marathoners have better weather tomorrow (I last paid attention to the forecast mid-week so I'm not sure what it is now).

After I got back from running, we had breakfast (Matt's sister is visiting) and cleaned up a little. Then we all went to Taste of Bethesda, a street fair/food fest in downtown Bethesda. It was fun but really crowded and also hot. Later in the afternoon, Matt went back home and Laura (Matt's sis) and I did some shopping in Chevy Chase. Neither one of us bought anything, though.

Tonight we had dinner and now are staying in to catch up on our HBO shows. Good luck to all of tomorrow's marathoners!
