Hump day

This has nothing to do with running, but I was just thinking about a phenomenon I've noticed recently. Lately when I am trying to figure out where I put something--a book that I haven't seen since Boston, for example--I notice that I am picturing somehow Googling it. Like it's too much work to actually go and look in boxes, drawers, etc...when I think of "searching," I think of the Web first! Has anyone else noticed this? It sort of scares me.

Back to the daily report. Matt left really early to go to Providence and then New York today (and tomorrow). I was ready to get out of bed when he left but somehow pressed snooze again and didn't wake up until I had a very limited window of time to run. I got in probably about 5 miles and did a downtown run so that I could just cross with the lights and not have to worry too much about sticking to a particular route. My knee was all crackly at first but felt pretty much okay by the end. Maybe the Advil was kicking in. But that's fine, I'll take it.

I got home and totally rushed around (not without doing abs first though, of course) and made it down to the bus just in the nick of time to get me to an appointment. Phew! I hate rushing but it seems I am always doing just that!

I was pretty busy at work, just plugging away at my to-do list. Sometimes there is a lot of commotion in our suite and today was one of those days, so it was kind of difficult to get things done.

I went to the gym after work and entertained myself on the bike by reading the latest issue of Washingtonian magazine, a gossip-y montly that reports mostly on the same "hot spots" and trends year after year. But I always find it entertaining, and the longer I live here, the more names I end up recognizing! My lifting was pretty decent although I skipped a couple of things because the machines were just too crowded. I hope to lift at lunch tomorrow so I'll make up for it then!

I was planning on watching that new spinoff of "Grey's" tonight, "Private Practice," but it's too much pressure to have another prime time show during the week. I want to save everything for the bike...I think this makes a very good case for getting TiVo/DVR!
