A nice run
Perhaps it was due to the two Advil I took beforehand, but I had a decent run today. I also made sure to keep the pace even--i.e. not take off at the pace my heart wants to go because my legs aren't there yet. My hamstring did get tight, but stopping to stretch/massage it seemed to help, and I avoided any major up or downhills. I also felt very awake because of all the sleep I got over the past couple of days! The weather was better than I anticipated--it was hot, but not as humid as it was yesterday. I ran up 16th Street and in the neighborhood to the west of 16th Street (Crestwood? 16th St. Heights?) and then took one of my favorites gentle downhills to get into Rock Creek Park. I noticed at one point when there were more runners around I started to unconsciously speed up and that bothered my knee. Good to know. Anyway, I can't say the whole thing was pain-free, but it was pretty good as far as my runs of late go. However, I am missing my iPod shuffle, which is now completely non-functional :(
Matt went to the Redskins-Giants game today and got a ride from a friend who was picking him up at the Metro. I dropped him off in Tenleytown and used that as an excuse to get out of the house and started on my grocery shopping. I hadn't gone in a couple of weeks since we were in LA last weekend, so it took awhile.
I read the newspaper and checked up on cross-country results from this weekend when I got back and then rode the trainer for a little bit. I attempted to change my flat tire, but I took the tube out without taking the wheel off and now I am having trouble getting my locking skewer to loosen and allow me to pop the wheel off. Matt's cousin and her boyfriend are coming over in a little while for dinner so I hope one of them can help me!
