Not too many complaints

My knee did start to bother me a bit when I got tired, but all in all, this morning's run was the best I've had in a while. I wore my new pair of sneakers--I run in the Gel-Evolution and no one has ever heard of it but it is a motion control PLUS shoe by Asics, and this iteration was said to control pronation even more. Although it would be in the 90s by the afternoon, it wasn't too hot yet and definitely less humid than it's been during the past week or so. I decided to run as shady a route as possible to take advantage of the low humidity (normally, it is just as nasty in the shade as in the sun) and I think I ended up doing pretty well. A lot of it was in Rock Creek Park, which I haven't done too much of lately. I incorporated a big hill (one that I used to live on, actually) and allowed myself to go as slow as possible so long as I didn't have any pain. I felt like I could have practically walked up faster, but I need to just rebuild my strength and ability to run and not just racewalk up hills! I must have worked something, though, because my legs were definitely tired when I got back home.

Not much else excitement to report from the day. I am reading a new (to me) book about a Hmong girl with epilepsy and how the cultural and language barriers between her family and her health care workers affected her condition--it was recommended by several of my public health school friends and I am just getting around to reading it. It is very interesting and engrossing so far. I read outside at lunch and that was about all the break from the air conditioning that I needed.

I biked tonight and then did my lower body and core strengthening, no arms. I did a lot of these side-step things with the theraband to strengthen my glute meds (sp?) and I am slightly worried how I will feel getting out of bed tomorrow!
