Running into a race

We are at the airport right now waiting to leave for Dallas, where we will connect back to National. We will get home late but hopefully the three-hour time difference will come in handy as I have plans to meet Camille for a run in Georgetown in the morning!

As for this morning's run, it was super humid (I just checked the weather and it is 88% relative humidity right now) but otherwise okay. The hotel provided a little running/walking map, so I did one of the routes on there. I did basically a rectangle of the downtown Vancouver area, staying by the water most of the time. When I was about a mile away from Stanley Park, I "ran" into a road race! It didn't seem too big but it was a narrow bike path so I did my best to stay out of the way and still stick to my route. A few of the race volunteers tried to give me water, but I waited until I found a water fountain. I happened to see the top women's finishers because my route turned right around that area, and they were going pretty fast--from the back of the pack, it seemed like it wouldn't be a competitive race--so I'll have to look up the results later.

My knee ached a bit but didn't feel terrible today, and I'll take what I can get. I had a little time when I got back to do some abs and step-downs in preparation for the next several hours that I will be sitting on my butt! Although I am sad that our vacation is ending, I am definitely glad to be returning to my daily routines.
