Mountains and museums

Today felt like a long day, although we did a lot, so it's not a bad thing. I did go back to Discovery Park this morning to run on the trails there. It was a scenic run but both my knees were kind of bothering me with the hills. There is a loop that is about 3 miles so I did it twice, going the opposite way the second time. It wasn't super hilly, but I am so slow even on small hills that it took longer than I expected. It was pretty cool though, in the high 60s, so that was really nice. Part of the loop goes right along a bluff that overlooks Puget Sound--it was beautiful especially on a bright, sunny morning.

Our first (my second) adventure of the day was a trip to Snoqualmie Falls, a town about 50 miles east of Seattle. As the name suggests, the main attraction there is a 280-foot waterfall. We started at the top observation deck, then made our way down a hill about a mile long until we got to the lower observation deck. We noticed people who had climbed down onto the rocks surrounding the water below the Falls, so of course we had to do that too. It was not easy for my poor knees to do all that bending and jumping, but I made it, and it was awesome. The climb back up was difficult, but not terrible since it was still pretty cool out. It was a fun little trip.

When we got back, I did my PT leg exercises, or the ones that I could, anyway, in our small hotel room. Then we walked around the part of the city near the Space Needle and spent an hour or so in a newish museum called the Experience Music Project. It has a permanent exhibit about Seattle/Northwest bands like Nirvana and Heart (who knew?) and several really neat feature exhibits. There is also a place where you can go into your own recording studio and "jam." Matt had fun learning how to sing a Nirvana song--so much fun, in fact, that his throat is sore!

I'm planning on taking tomorrow as a gym day--I am going to check out a gym that was recommended by our travel book. I am hoping to fit in both a workout and lifting first thing. We'll see how much I actually get done!
