Quick check in
Matt and I are here in New York now after having taken the train up this morning. Before we left, I did a ten-minute run in my neighborhood--I'm taking the new approach of doing a little bit instead of trying to jump back in all at once--and then got on the trainer and rode while watching part of the movie Invincible. It was pretty good although I had trouble making out all of the dialogue as I always do on the trainer. As for the knee pain, I felt pretty much the same on the run and on the bike--some stiffness and a bit of inside-the-knee pain. At least it is not getting worse.
The train ride up to New York was pretty relaxing except for a bunch of loud people in our car talking about everything they saw out the window and singing "New York, New York" as we approached the city. We continued on to Westchester so at least we got 15 minutes of peace. We spent a few hours at the hospital with my dad and it was pretty amazing to see the improvements in his condition and to just have a conversation with him. Now we're back relaxing at my parents' house and will all go back for about an hour tonight.
