Day at the beach

It was hard to get up early this morning knowing it was the weekend, but I left myself just enough time to get in a decent workout before we left for New York. I ran a couple of miles--it was still humid out but cooler than past days--and then rode my trainer. The run felt fine except that it seemed to be longer than it actually was. I guess that happens when you are out of shape. I have been trying to walk a minute or so before starting my runs; not sure if it is helping but many of my routes start downhill so I think it is probably a smart idea. I didn't have as much time to bike as I anticipated when I got back, but I was already sweating when I got on from the run so it wasn't hard to get into a good workout mode. Nothing was on TV so I listened to my iPod.

We took a 10:30 shuttle flight to LGA and my mom picked us up and then we met my dad and my sister a beach on the Sound that my family likes to go to. Aside from the occasional smoker and screaming kid, it was pleasant and great to see my dad back to his old self (although still skinny!). I managed to get a little color and only a bit of a sunburn--all and all a successful day.

Tonight my grandmother is coming up for dinner and then Matt and I will head to his mom's house and his dad's tomorrow. As always, an action-packed weekend in NY for the Wexlers!
