Change of scenery
I am attending a public relations conference today and tomorrow in my our neighborhood--very close to our new one!--so it is nice to have a break from trekking over to Georgetown. Many people use conferences as an excuse to travel, but I like my routine, and I've broken out of it enough lately, so I'm glad to have one that's here in town to go to.
I went to the gym before the conference started and ellipticalled. I felt okay--some weirdness in the inner knee but it loosened up as I got more into the workout. I went to Washington Sports Club down the block today since I wouldn't be going to work, and they have installed new flat-screen TVs on each machine since I was last there. Unfortunately there wasn't really anything to watch, so I read the scrolling news headlines and listened to my iPod. A decent workout.
The conference was pretty good--I enjoyed the small breakout sessions much more than the large keynote addresses--and I reconnected with a former Red Cross colleague. Somehow I always find these events exhausting, though. I walked home at the end of the day, took a quick nap, and then went to lift. Now I am fairly re-energized, but I have a feeling it won't last long!
