Two dragging runners
I'm probably just trying to make myself feel better by saying this, but I don't think I was the only one feeling crappy on our run this morning. Getting up earlier than usual wasn't too terrible because I knew I was meeting Beth (Cornell friend I've been running with the past few days) but it was super humid and my legs were tired. Since it was her last day here, I decided we should go down towards the monuments and the Mall. I almost fell over when we approached the Washington Monument and I pointed it out to Beth--although, who could miss it?--and she said, "Wait, which monument is it? Lincoln?" She is one of the smartest people I know but clearly clueless about national monuments! She also somehow didn't notice the White House when we literally ran right up to it :) After the monument-naming problems, I took her along Constitution to get a glimpse at the real Lincoln Memorial and then we headed back "uptown" through Foggy Bottom. I was sad when we parted ways although grateful that we had these few days to run and catch up--it always seems like no time has passed when we get together.
Work was hectic this morning because we had an event to staff and of course the facilities people forgot the room plan we had provided and the room we had reserved had a divider wall up that was impossible to move. Luckily, we found the right people and everything worked out. The rest of the day was much quieter. I lifted lower body stuff after work and it was so hot in the gym that I was quite uncomfortable.
Tonight is Baskin Robbins $0.31/scoop night but I am too lazy to walk over to the cloest location (about 3/4 mile.) Plus Matt is still at work. I guess I will have to find another dessert instead!
