Heartbreaker

Today was a long, but fun, day. I was on my trainer by about 7:30 and watching "The Queen," which I had wanted to see but missed while it was out in the theater. It was not a great movie to watch on the bike because it was all dialogue and I missed some of it. It was still a good distraction and helped pass the time. I even did some surges standing up out of the saddle and did not feel any pain, so that was good. (I seem to only have lingering issues on steep steps, going either up or down.) But I think the volume on the TV was a little loud because Matt came out of the bedroom a lot earlier than I expected!

We set off before 11 am for the men's NCAA semifinal lacrosse games (2) in Baltimore. Cornell was playing Duke in the second game and Hopkins was playing Delaware in the first. We went with a friend of mine from work whose boyfriend went to Hopkins, so almost all of us had a team to root for. When we bought the tickets, the weather forecast was for a pleasantly warm day. But it turned out to be very, very hot and for the first game, our seats were totally in the sun and there wasn't much of a breeze to speak of. Of course I was dripping, but I just took breaks and went inside to cool off a few times. (I was trying not to let the heat get to me.) The first game was pretty boring and Hopkins dominated. There were tons of Cornell fans throughout the stadium so the second game was a lot of fun...especially in the final minute when Cornell tied the score. And then: with three seconds to go, Duke scored and won the game! It was crazy, especially since Cornell had been undefeated all season long and was the favorite to win the NCAA championship. What a heartbreaker!!

We didn't get home until about 7:30 and now we are totally beat, especially Matt who drove us all. We are going to try and watch a movie tonight but something tells me we might not make it all the way through!
