Biking and bar mitzvahs
After five solid days of running, I was definitely ready for a cross-training day today. I was too lazy to go to the gym so I rode my trainer. From the beginning, the back of my knee was a little pinch-y, but I'm hoping that it is due to a significant amount of hamstring work yesterday and overall tiredness. It has been faintly noticeable all day (of course, I am hypersensitive to this feeling).
I watched "Keeping Up With the Steins," which was available free On Demand, while I biked. It is a comedy about rich Jewish families in Brentwood trying to top each other's bar/bat mitzvah party plans for their kids. I expected it to be really dumb, but actually it was kind of cute. Having been a bat mitzvah in an area not quite as prosperous as Brentwood, but of a similar ilk (Westchester County), I have to say it wasn't entirely unrealistic! And hey, it passed the time, so what more do I want?
I went to the gym at lunchtime today and thankfully it wasn't quite as stifling in there as it was yesterday. I biked briefly just to loosen up my muscles and was next to one of Georgetown's top middle-distance runners who I think has had an injury on and off since cross country. She was working hard!
Tonight I am meeting a local grad school friend and one who's in from out of town. Matt is currently en route to LA, where he'll be until late tomorrow night, so it's a good opportunity for girls' night.
