Reunion run
Oh, the joys of meeting friends for a morning run! This morning I bounded out of bed (not really), looking forward to meeting my old Cornell teammate and friend for a run. I ran down to the hotel where she and our other friend (they are both in grad school at Penn State) are staying during their meeting here in D.C. Another grad student--a former collegiate runner, so I was nervous--tagged along too. I took them up to the National Zoo and then a bit of Rock Creek before we looped back to my neighborhood and they ran back to their hotel (with explicit directions, of course!) The pace wasn't torrid, exactly, but it was faster than I was used to going on pretty tired legs. And a lot of uphill. I could really feel it in my quads when I got home, but my knees were for the most part okay. We chatted away the whole time, catching up and gossiping, so time definitely flew by. It put me in a good mood for the rest of the morning!
Work was busy today. I snuck out at lunch to lift and was somewhat disgusted at how hot it had gotten (it was warm but not too bad in the morning when we ran). After work, I met the Penn State girls at their hotel and we went to dinner. Between all the exercising, walking and socializing I did today, I am wiped out!
