Pretty good run
I was dreading the wind today, since Washingtonpost.com called the weather "unseasonable" and "blustery" with a real feel of 32, but it wasn't that bad. It was pretty much fake cold, except when the wind blew. I wore a hat partly to keep my hair from getting all frizzed out of my bun, but it actually was helpful in keeping me at the perfect temp (I think I was taking a cue from the pictures of the elite runners I saw at Boston yesterday.)
I did one of my standard Tuesday routes and tried really hard not to look at the ground--an old habit that I've fallen back into recently; a high school coach tried to cure me of it ages ago)--and to lift my knees instead of shuffling. Either one of those helped or coincidentally I had a good run. I saw both the men and women from American University doing their morning runs while I was out there.
I am going to a Patty Griffin concert tonight, so I lifted at lunch. Nothing much to say about that, except that I felt a little rushed because I was hungry. The gym has seemed more crowded at lunchtime in recent days and I'm not exactly sure why. Isn't the semester winding down? Aren't these students supposed to be studying for finals or something?? I actually can't believe that at this time last year, I was about to finish my grad program and hoping to find a job. Time flies!
