Playing it safe

I am glad I biked this morning because my legs have felt pretty good all day—maybe they just want me to listen to them. I'll listen even more closely if they get any of their speed back! I actually got to sleep a little bit later because I had planned to go into work about an hour later than usual. I stayed late for work events a couple of nights last week and I knew I had one tonight. Even getting a half-hour more of sleep is worth it!

I watched the movie "Stick It"—available free On Demand—while I toiled away on the bike. It was really dumb, and I could tell from the first few minutes, but the length was about right and I was too lazy to look through the list of titles again. It is about a gymnast teenager with an attitude, basically, and how she improves once she begins to trust the father-figure coach. I always like watching gymnastics, though, and there were a lot of cameos by real gymnasts (like Nastia Liukin) during the "meets." Hey, it passed the time, so what more can I want?

Things were pretty quiet at work. I chatted a lot with my student worker, who is great. She is going to be working in our office throughout the summer, which is excellent considering she is responsible, mature, and good company. She left around lunchtime and I headed to the gym to lift. I was kind of tired/hungry today and it wasn't the best lifting session—I did what I could.

I just got back from the after-work event, which was a discussion by the three inventors of the HPV vaccine technology (one is still at Georgetown; the other two are now at the University of Louisville). A student group brought the other two back to campus and did not advertise very well for the event, so it was not well attended, but it was still interesting!
