Outdoor day

For the first time in a long while, I spent most of the day today outside. It was much less humid than yesterday and really a beautiful day. I met Camille and Leilani in Georgetown for a run in the morning; there were definitely lots of runners, bikers and walkers out, especially on the Canal, where we ran for about 3.5 miles. I didn't feel too tired from yesterday's run but I did feel a little sore behind the knee at first; consciously picking up my knees helped a bit. Actually, I felt better after I finished (leg-wise) than before I started. Weird but I'll take it.

Matt had a hair cut appointment around noon so I walked down with him and then we went to the Farmer's Market that they have every Sunday at Dupont Circle. Despite all of our years here, neither one of us had ever been. It was pretty much shutting down by the time we got there, but Matt picked out some tulips, asparagus and lettuce. I was pretty hot on the walk home, but we stopped at a cafe that has good smoothies, and that helped.

We spent the rest of the afternoon reading and napping (me) in the park across the street from our apartment. It was very relaxing. Late in the afternoon, my friend Liz stopped by--she (and another Cornell runner friend) are in town for the Experimental Biology conference. She still has another year to go before she is done with her Ph.D., but it looks like she and her husband will be moving back to D.C. as well--exciting news!

Tonight is dinner with the cousins/Sopranos night. Although it is a perfect night for barbequeing, I am making a stir fry. But hopefully we can all fit on our balcony to eat it outside!
