Rushed run
I fell asleep before Matt came home from work last night, and I think I woke up for a little while after he came in and had a semi-conscious conversation. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, but I could not wake up this morning. I got out of bed and was rushing around as usual to be able to fit in about an hour of running. (When I start to increase my mileage--if I am ever able to--I am really going to have to go to bed earlier so I can get up with more time to spare!) I did my usual Wed. route, or at least one of my variations, which involves going downtown via the Convention Center and coming back through the city by the White House and the World Bank. It was pretty chilly this morning, but I took off my hat right away because I knew I would be hot. I was glad to feel pretty pain-free in my sixth day of running in a row (tomorrow I will cross train) although my legs are feeling it! But they were not as sore/heavy as yesterday, so I am taking that as a good sign.
My day has gone by pretty quickly. I had an interview with an interesting scientist here on our faculty this morning and I was really fascinated by his work studying the brain and how we process sounds and information. I lbiked briefly and lifted quickly at lunch as I am going to a political satire musical of some sort tonight (how quintessentially D.C.!). Speaking of D.C., our new mayor, whose parents own the local Fleet Feet in my neighborhood (host of the first group run I ever did in D.C.), has been running some of the local races here. He did the St. Patrick's Day 8K last weekend in 33 minutes and change--not bad--and is rumored to be a participant in this weekend's National Marathon! Now that's my kind of politician.
