Monday blues
I have a little bit of a sniffle, so I felt kind of stuffed up and out of it when I woke up this morning. Plus I was just not in the mood for Monday! Luckily it was pretty bright outside, and the Advil I took before I left for the gym did help. It was very windy walking down to the bus and I was cold almost the whole time! I was kind of glad I was going to be working out inside.
My quads are kind of sore, I guess from the hilly run on Sat., and I felt them a bit on the elliptical. I have not been sore there in a long time, and I welcome it! But I backed off a little bit in the second half of my workout because I remembered that the first sign of my knee/leg injury was an extremely sore right quad, post-Boston. I started a new book--Jay McInerney's most recent, about NYC families in the wake of 9/11--and got into it right away, so that made time pass quickly. (I am very interested in songs, books, etc. that have been inspired by 9/11--not movies that sensationalize the events, but quieter reactions to them.) In any case, it was a pretty good elliptical workout.
I took a walk during lunch to a sandwich place I like and it was still windy but sunny, so not so bad. I like getting out of the office for an hour or so each day; it would be easy enough to sit at my desk and eat something. Then I went to the gym after work and it was blissfully free of all the undergrads who are partying in tropical locations (or doing good deeds in underserved areas, like the student who works for me). I'm glad Monday is almost over but so far, it hasn't been too bad!
