Dead legs

Man, my legs were dead today. Sometimes I am baffled by the fact that I kept up 80-mile weeks for as long as I did, because now I am struggling to hit 35-40! My knees were also kind of generally achy, but nothing too bad. I hadn't done lunges in more than a week but I did (unweighted) ones yesterday and I'm wondering if part of the tiredness/achiness was from that. It was quite warm out this morning, although I definitely saw some fellow runners in windsuits and hats. It made me hot just to look at them. My route today had one long, but not steep, climb, and the rest was flat and down. I recently heard the uphill climb from the Georgetown waterfront to the National Cathedral referred to as a "gutbuster" and my hill (which also ends up at the Cathedral) doesn't start from quite as low, but I think it is still a good one.

I had a crazy morning at work, although it ended up being fun and supposedly one of our doctors was on the CBS national evening news tonight (I missed it). My intern and I escorted a camera crew all over the Medical Center to get the footage they needed, which was hectic, but the crew guys were very personable and had some great stories of past shoots. So all in all, it was a good morning.

I lifted at lunch again because I had a work event tonight and I knew I would not want to go to the gym afterwards. I did not do any leg lifting in the hopes of getting rid of some of the heaviness! We'll see what happens.
