A day 'off' for my legs
It was a nice change to go to the gym this morning since I hadn't been in several days. My alarm went off early for some reason (well, a human error reason) and I was so glad that I got to go back to sleep for a little while. Matt is in NY for a couple of days, so I had the bed all to myself. Once I got out of bed, I was in a rush as usual. I headed down to the bus at the right time but just as I was getting there, it pulled away. Grrr! It's been leaving a couple of minutes early, although it actually might have been the previous one running late. In any case, another one pulled up shortly after that so I didn't end up being too much behind my regular schedule.
I mostly ellipticalled with a little biking at the end. I started out going a little too hard, I think, because my energy level petered off during the second half of the workout. I am reading an interesting book, but it requires careful and slow reading so it is not really a good elliptical book. After about 5 minutes, I put it away. (For other readers, the book is: The Crossley Baby by Jacqueline Carey.)
It had already warmed up a lot when I walked to my office from the gym. And when I went back to lift in the early afternoon, it was downright hot. (It's about 73 now at 4:30 p.m. in case anyone is wondering.)
I am feeling a little guilty that I am not in NY with Matt. He is hosting a fundraiser at a bar on the Lower East Side for the scholarship that he and some friends are starting to honor the memory of our friend Marc who died a year and half ago. It sounds like the turnout will be pretty good, though, and I would have had a hard time getting away from work today and tomorrow whereas it is pretty easy for Matt to work from anywhere, plus he has sites to visit in NY. In any case, I'm sure it will go well tonight, even without me.
