Half and half
I wanted to both run and cross train this morning, so I did just that. I had to head out earlier than usual for an early meeting and it was really cold, so I decided to drive. I'm not sure if it really saved time, but it was easier in a lot of ways. Once at the gym, I ran about 4 miles on the treadmill and then did the elliptical until it was time to go in the shower. As I've discussed before, I am not really a treadmill fan unless there are no better options. Today it was just the easiest and quickest way to get a few miles in. I didn't feel amazing, but I never do on the treadmill--it is hard (impossible?) to feel like I'm just doing a regular run. My sweat also flies everywhere and irritates my skin, but that's another story. I could feel my hamstring more at the beginning of the run than at the end, so I guess it loosened up. The back of my knee felt a little funky when I got on the elliptical but stretching seemed to help.
I was helping out with the filming of a documentary on dyslexia today (http://dyslexiathemovie.com if anyone's interested) since one of our professors has a big role in it. It ended up being a lot of standing around, but I did get to watch an fMRI scan and watch the areas of the brain that lit up depending on what the subject inside the fMRI machine was doing. It was definitely a break from sitting at my desk all day!
I can't believe it's 9:30 already and I have another early day tomorrow. So I'll just add that I biked a bit and lifted after work and all was fine except for a flood in the bathroom for the second day in a row--gross!
