Final day of vacation
Lots of people in DC had the day off today because of President Ford's funeral, but we actually were scheduled to have an extra day anyway, another university holiday. I woke up when Matt's alarm went off and could hardly croak a word out because of my cold which I suppose is progressing from my chest to my nose. I slept another couple of hours after Matt left for work, realizing that extra rest might help my cold go away. It's not really a bad one, just a little bit of an annoyance.
I felt a little better when I woke up and got ready to go to the gym. My gym was still closed today but I needed a cross-training day and I have my secret ways of getting into other gyms :) It was very windy on the walk down there so I was kind of glad to be inside (don't get me wrong--it's still not very cold and people are already talking about how temps are supposed to be near 70 this weekend). I ellipticalled and then lifted. I caught some of the coverage of Ford's funeral/procession from the Capitol on TV and thought it was so strange that all of these VIPs from the last 35 years of history were only about a couple of miles from me. My leg/knee felt fine on the elliptical but I noticed when I was doing my squats and lunges that both of my legs are still tired.
I did some errands in the afternoon and then spent a couple of hours cleaning the apartment and finishing a pile of ironing, two things I've been meaning to do but just haven't gotten around to. (Boston running partner/friend) Mary surprised me with a phone call in the early evening and that was really nice, it was great to catch up! She was on her way to Vegas for a business trip and wanted some book recommendations, which I was glad to give. I am on the edge of my seat waiting to hear which one she chose...
I biked for a bit tonight while watching "The Upside of Anger" on cable. It was one of those movies that isn't very good but kind of sucks you in. But I was done by the time Matt came home from work and we just finished dinner. Too bad it's back to reality tomorrow!

I chose....(drum roll please) "Three Junes".
But "Little Miss Sunshine" was the movie on the plane and I had not seen it, so I watched that instead of reading. I am now in Vegas waiting for my bags which may take literally an hour, so perhaps I will pull it out.
