An early, wet run

The only thing that motivates me to get out of bed when it is still dark for a run is knowing that I am meeting someone. (Well, that's not true. I'll usually do it alone, too, but it helps immensely to know someone is waiting!) I met T. at about 6 and I took him on the "Becky loop", which I knew would be a good distance since he had to get back for a meeting. I didn't think about how dark it would be on the Rock Creek Park part...it's been a long time since I've had to go that early. I was wearing my headlamp, but it was raining and there are absolutely no lights down there. To complicate matters, T.'s glasses were fogging up. I prayed that we would make it back to civilization without a fall. Thankfully, we made it, but not without a close call. At T.'s request, we finished the loop by coming up through the Zoo--a big hill--and my leg didn't really like that. I've been kind of sore ever since, which I'm attributing to the hill, lower-body lifting yesterday, and the fact that I wore boots yesterday and walked around a lot. In any case, it's always fun to run and catch up with T., so no complaints from me about today's run!

I actually had a physical therapy appointment today since I was still having some stiffness/discomfort the last time I saw Barb (a few weeks ago). I am pleased to report that Barb told me that things felt good and not to come back unless I feel I need to! I am psyched, but I know that I will probably want to check in with her periodically to make sure my alignment isn't off (it was again today). But it was great to hear. Of course, she cautioned me to be careful...and I'm doing my best.

Matt is on his way home with some sushi, so that's it for me. Happy weekend!
