Back at the gym
The Georgetown gym reopened just in time for a scheduled cross-training day--how convenient. It was not too cold when I walked down to the bus but thankfully it was below sweating level. Temps here have been "colder," but it is still warm for this time of year, even here and especially compared to the last two winters I spent in Boston. Temperatures are supposed to be in the high 50s for the rest of the week, so I'm assuming New Year's will be pretty mild as well. The one year I ran the NYRR Midnight Run in Central Park, it was 11 degrees or something (this was probably 10 or 11 years ago now.)
I always get myself off-topic when I start writing about the weather. Back to crosstraining: I did most of my workout on the elliptical and a bit on the bike. Although I am in the middle of a very good book (The Emperor's Children by Claire Messud), it requires me to read carefully and not skim, so I started a new, light one during my workout about a stay-at-home mom who has to go back to her job when her husband gets fired. I'm almost done after reading it on the elliptical, the bike tonight before I lifted, and the bus home.
It was quiet at work today but I actually had a lot to do, so that was good. It was great to lift after not having done it for a few days (perhaps this is a clue to me that I should insert more days in between lifting sessions). I'm not quite ready to make my 2007 resolutions, but that very well might be one of them!
