PT progress report: Not so hot
It was easier (schedule-wise) for me to go to the gym this morning than to go to the pool, so that's what I did, even though I wasn't sure it was a great idea. I usually feel okay while I'm ellipticalling, but not always afterwards. I tend to cross train pretty hard, and I'm trying to take it down a notch since I know it might be bothering my hamstring...but it's hard for me. I just get on and hammer and that's how I feel most comfortable. I felt good today but noticed my leg was stiffer while I was walking home. The next thing on my agenda today was a PT appointment, though, so I figured I'd discuss with Barb.
The pain is mainly in the innermost part of the back of my knee now. Barb suggested that I try iontophoresis on the attachments there, but she needs me to get a prescription for it and I do not have a doctor here yet. I will look into that option once I get all signed up for my medical insurance (next week, I hope.) Please let me know if you know any iontophoresis success stories. Barb said she is disaapointed that my inner hamstring is still as tight as it was when I showed up. She said it's probably because I biked on it for so long that my body started thinking that this is how it normally should be (tight as hell!) She suggested that I try a soak in a hot tub/jacuzzi (we apparently have one in our bathroom but haven't tried it yet) and then really stretch it out.
I was kind of down after PT, and I decided to skip my second workout for the day (I thought about swimming.) I just want this to heal and worry that I'm doing too much. Of course I was racked with feelings of guilt this evening, but if I am making a difference in my recovery than it'll be worth it!
