Trying not to fall in the Fells

Well, this morning's run was not exactly what I had planned, but I suppose that is okay. Wynne, Alison and I drove to our other running partner Alyssa's house and parked there. I had suggested a nice, easy short long run in the Fells since I hadn't been there since the fall. Alyssa lives a little over 2 miles from one of the entrances and suggested starting from her house. We started out kind of fast but did slow down a little upon a general group protest. When we got into the Fells, Alyssa took us on a loop that she often does. The other few times I've run there I've done much less treacherous loops, with a lot of it on a "fire road." The "orange" loop that we did today was very rocky and slippery with steep uphills, downhills and switchbacks. I suck at hard trails and I sure was feeling that way today. I was also being extra careful not to fall and injure myself--that would be perfect timing.

Anyway, I survived okay (we were in there for about an hour) but my groin started bothering me about a half hour in. I haven't had any HHG problems in weeks so that was an unpleasant surprise. It was probably due to the way I was (gingerly) running on the trails. When we got back on the road I felt somewhat better, but my butt was very sore. Instead of running directly back to Alyssa's, we added on a couple of miles to get some of the trail soreness out of our legs. I was pooped when we were finished, and it was definitely not the nice and easy run I had intended on. I feel a little bit better now a few hours later and after using my heating pad, but I want all of this soreness to disappear ASAP. Ugh!

I've been doing school work all day, but it hasn't been so bad since it's a pretty dreary day out anyway. (In case the Boston weather gods are reading, this temperature is fine with me, but a little less wind, please.) Tonight Matt and I are going bowling with a few of his friends from school. He's been wanting to go for a while. We are even eating dinner at the bowling alley--very exciting. I'm sure I won't be able to resist the spicy "disco fries" (as we called them in high school). I usually have one good game when I bowl and then I lose concentration. We're taking on another couple so hopefully Team Wex will dominate!!
