I'll know for next time
I just had a not-so-pleasant track workout. And it wasn't because of my tired legs, it was because of the fact that I had a spicy chicken wrap and a smoothie for lunch! I used to be very cautious about what I ate before workouts but have recently been living on the edge. I felt okay until I started running faster than warmup pace. Then I had to run to the bathroom between intervals. I was surprised I kept up with my group! We were doing 2 sets of a mile at tempo pace, an 800 at interval pace and a 400 and 2x200 at repeat pace. I was definitely struggling to get my legs to turn over during the repeat pace stuff, but I'm not sure if it was because my stomach hurt or my legs were tired or a combination of the two. In any case, I made it through the workout hitting pretty much the paces I wanted to, but it wasn't the most enjoyable experience. That was our last indoor workout though as we will move outside starting next after changing the clocks.
I did my usual morning run today and it was really nice out--sunny and pretty mild. I ran by an elementary school near my apartment and noticed several dads walking their kids to school. I don't know why in 2006 that surprises me--I expect to see moms! But it is definitely a good thing.
I also went to two new classes today, one of which I will probably take and one which I will likely drop. I am torn between taking things that seem interesting and challenging and taking stuff that doesn't have a whole lot of work. It's like senior year of college all over again! Hopefully I'll strike a good balance between the two.
