Mileage+track=dead legs
If there's one thing I am--or try to be--as a runner, it's consistent. My weekly mileage has been about the same (increasing a bit) for the last couple of months or so, but with the longer long run, I've been feeling a lot more tired during track workouts. I guess it's to be expected and I shouldn't beat myself up over it too much. Even this morning, when I was doing my pre-track run, I felt okay but noticed my legs were a little achy. I should probably be foam rolling even more than I am already. There are too many things to remember!
I don't have much to say about my day today because it was not very exciting! I only had one class and I spent the morning doing laundry and catching up on webmaster duties for my running club. When it was time for track, I ran up to Wynne's place and we jogged over together. Somehow the warmup jog over there is a lot more enjoyable when I have company :)
Tonight's workout was more marathon-appropriate than the 400s we did last week. We did 2 x 2 miles (3,200 meters, actually) with the first mile at tempo pace and the second about ten seconds faster. The rest in between was only a minute--practically nothing. We were right on tempo pace for both of the first miles and managed to finish the second second mile about 8 seconds faster than the first second mile. It really took a lot of concentration to pick up the pace--and maintain it--for that second mile. My legs were having a lot more trouble than my lungs were. I don't think I could have asked for much more though than the times we hit because of how tired I have been feeling.
I'm caught up in watching the figure skating on TV right now, even though I know what's going to happen. It sucks you in!
