Pain in the butt
I wasn't as sore or tired as I expected to be this morning after last night's workout, but I had a tight and painful spot right where my hamstring meets my butt! Alison suggested a few stretches to try, but nothing really got it. I needed the foam roller, which I used when I got home and should probably use again tonight. I definitely get weird muscle issues from running those tight turns on the indoor track.
Today we ran to Fresh Pond, around it and back through Harvard Square where Alison had a stop to make. Both of us commented on the mild weather--some of the smaller paths around Fresh Pond are runnable again, and it's supposed to be 60 tomorrow here. Craziness! Alison said she hopes the whole winter is like this. It's nice for running, true, but I still like to get the most out of my favorite season.
My cold was feeling a lot better today, but then when I got home from running and was reading on the couch, I started getting really tired. I ended up sleeping (in a sitting position) for two hours! I woke up all groggy and with a big headache. Eating lunch helped, but I still didn't feel that great. Being the crazy nut that I am, I went to the gym shortly after that (I had a small window of opportunity or else I would have put it off until later.) Biking made me feel a little better and I surprisingly still had some energy left for lifting. Then I went up to the track to help the other coaches time some workouts since there was a lot going on today. The workouts seemed to go pretty well--I was especially impressed with one of the girls who had to do 4 long sets of 300s all by herself since her training partner is injured. She hit all her times.
Matt and I might watch a movie tonight, but the On Demand choices are pretty slim. I look forward to the day when you can get any movie available on video/DVD by ordering it with your TV remote...we're almost there!
