One last free Tuesday

My spring (and last!) semester begins next Monday, so today was my last free Tuesday. I was somewhat productive but I also had time for a pre-track nap, which is one of my favorite things to do. Alison (and P) met me at my place for a short run (for me) this morning. The sidewalks were either impressively clear or a little bit slippery, depending on whether someone had done a good job shoveling after our little snowstorm yesterday. When Alison "dropped me off" at my place, she asked what my club's track workout was tonight. Even though she had already run a decent amount, she said she was considering coming to the track as well. (Since she'd be there for Tufts practice beforehand, it was not too inconvenient.)

We ended up having a good-size group at the track, and Alison did end up joining us. Our workout was on the short side, which was a good thing because my legs are still pretty tired from Sunday. We did a tempo mile, then had a very short recovery and did 3x1,000 and 3x200. We were about 15 seconds fast on the mile because it seemed like the whole club was pushing the pace. It felt okay to me, though...not quite tempo but not all-out or anything. I generally don't like 1,000s because they are pretty tough to do at interval pace. We were consistent on our first two (a tad bit slower than we ran our 800s last week) and I decided to try and pick up the last one as I was leading most of it. We ended up doing that one about 9 seconds faster than the first 2, so that was cool with me! It felt a little bit harder, but not like I was out of control. Our 200s, as usual, were kind of an afterthought, although they felt harder than they did last week. I'm sure that was due at least in part to my tired legs.

One of my all-time favorite 80s movies, Mystic Pizza, is on TV right now. I've seen it a million times but I can't turn it off!

Sounds as if you recovered pretty well from the 16-miler, which bodes well for your marathon!
