Cold ears, but (finally!) warm hands

It's winter again here in the northeast as evidenced by the less-than-20 degree temperature readings on Boston.com this morning. And that was without the windchill--I heard our neighbors' windchimes all night long. I decided that today would be a good day to wear the windstopper mittens I picked up while I was home in Westchester. My cold hand problem hasn't bothered me lately since it's been so warm, but when it does happen, it is really painful. I'm happy to report that the mittens really helped! My hands were not at all cold. I suspect that they will be too WARM for most runs I do, though...but I'm glad to have them.

Alison and I met this morning in one of our usual spots--good thing we recognized each other because we were both so bundled up--and did a loop through Medford. My hip hurt for the first couple of minutes of the run and then loosened up. I was also bothered today by a crick in my neck/upper back which came on yesterday evening for no apparent reason (watching TV in a weird position??) I couldn't (and still can't) really turn my head fully to the right--luckily Alison was the traffic navigator. While we were running, she told me about the movie "Murderball" that she just watched for an assignment and it made me really want to see it. (Matt wants to see it too so I will wait for him.)

I didn't do anything too exciting today (unless you count grocery shopping) and went to the gym in the late afternoon. It was super-crowded because the hours were limited for MLK Day today. Luckily I found a bike and a bench for lifting.

Tomorrow will be the first day in a few weeks that I actually have to wake up early. I'm taking a weeklong class and it begins in the morning and goes through next Monday. It's supposed to be good, so I'm looking forward to it, but I'm dreading having to run so early again!
