An easy day I think I needed

I definitely felt better when I woke up this morning than I did post-workout yesterday morning. I decided not to set a specific mileage goal and just run by feel since I have had a string of not-so-great runs in a row. It was a lot colder than I expected when I stepped outside--I brought my hat thinking I would take it off after a few minutes, but I ended up being glad to have it the whole time. I did a route that I often did on Fridays when I lived in DC because it's on the shorter side and pleasant. It ends by coming up the pretty big hill going into the National Zoo. I always dreaded that hill and today it wasn't terrible, but I remembered why it intimidated me! Even though I was feeling decent, I decided to run a little less than an hour and call it a day. I intended to just do a regular long run this weekend, but most of the regular crew from the running club is planning to do a 10 mile club race. I guess I'll do it just for the company, but I'm certainly not in 10 mile race shape. I'll just consider that part of the run a tempo pace run and then add the warm up and cool down miles to count it as a long run.

I had lunch today with a couple of old co-workers from the Red Cross, which was nice. It's always good to hear the office gossip. After that I went to Alexandria to visit a friend who just had a baby. I haven't seen her in quite some time so it was good to catch up. Tonight Matt, his sister and I had a quiet dinner near her apartment. Now we're sitting in the hotel lobby finding sporadic internet access--what dorks! Matt's having trouble getting online with his computer so I'll pass mine on to him. Happy weekend!
