Easy run and "Pizza Relays"
I didn't get much sleep last night because I was working on something later than I usually allow myself to stay up, so my task of leaving the house at 6:15 to meet Wynne for a run was not an easy one. I was a little late, but so was she, so it didn't really matter. I knew I wanted to run about 6 or 7 miles but we are never sure where to go for that distance. We looped through Medford and back toward Tufts and Davis Square. It ended up being a little long, but what can you do? I swear that next week I'm going to be even more militant about capping my mileage. It may mean that I have to walk the last 2 miles of some runs, with the way I plan out routes!
My knee was a little sore after the treadmill yesterday (walking around and doing squats) but I was glad to note it felt okay today. I lifted this afternoon and intended to run a couple of miles with the MIT team, but they had shifted their workout until today because of the bad weather yesterday. When I heard that, I decided to just bike for a bit instead of running by myself while they were doing fast stuff. I ended up finishing my own workout just in time to get showered and back out to the track to watch them do this 3-person 3-mile relay. Both the men and women were doing it and it was actually pretty exciting to see everyone get super-competitive for the chance to win free pizza. It was pretty chilly out there tonight (windy, too) but everyone seemed to shrug off the less-than-ideal conditions and give it their best--ideal preparation for what they will be doing on Sat. at their conference meet!
I have a paper to finish tonight but I know if I do I will be able to relax and not do too much in the way of schoolwork this weekend!
