Hot Tuesday
I love when I'm watching the 5-day forecast on Mondays and the weatherman says "We're gonna have a heat wave starting on Tuesday!" because Tuesday is track day. But when I went out for my morning run today, it wasn't too bad--there was a good breeze and it wasn't as humid as I feared. I did about 5 miles, very easy, going into Manhattan over the Brooklyn Bridge and coming back over the Manhattan Bridge. I did a longer morning run than I usually do pre-workout because we had already gotten the workout emailed to us and it was short.
I felt pretty relaxed on my run in the morning and my knee felt a little better (it hurt on the warmup and cooldown at track, though.) When I got back, I was stretching outside the building and ran into my sister leaving for work, which surprisingly hasn't happened yet this summer. I'm always impressed by how grown-up she looks when she goes to work, as opposed to me, since no one at the Foundation dresses up!
I spent most of the day waiting around for somebody to send me something and he never did. Love when that happens. It wasn't too bad, though, because I used some of the down time to take a nap and read!
It was definitely hotter than it had been in the morning when I left to go to the track, but it wasn't as humid as last week. Lots of people I hadn't seen in a few weeks showed up tonight, so I had plenty of company warming up. The workout was 6x600 and 4x200, another short one. (I need to make sure to start doing longer intervals as the weather improves.) Except for a little bit of knee discomfort (ITB), I felt surprisingly good tonight. I did each 600 a couple of seconds faster than the one before (we were supposed to go from 5K pace down to 3K pace.) The 200s were a struggle, as they always are for me, but I made it through. I cooled down with a bunch of people and then Lisa, who I met a few weeks ago, and I jogged back to the subway. Tonight was her last track workout before heading back to California for her senior XC season at Cal. I'll miss her!
OK, almost time for tonight's silly edition of Real World. I just can't help myself!

Have you always had ITB problems? Mine has lasted sooo long this time around it's been horrible. I've been going to the PT, icing, anti-imflamatories, stretching, NOT running.... aaah!!Any other suggestions?
