Hometown hills
I'm surprised I haven't run as much in my hometown this summer as I expected to. Since we keep our car at Matt's mom's house, we seem to spend more nights there. But last night I stayed over at my parents' and had dinner with my fam including my grandma. So this morning I did my run from there--and remembered how hilly it was. All my routes around there are basically combinations of (shorter) runs we did in high school. (We did not run much more than 3 miles in high school, I don't think.)
My legs felt a tiny bit looser after my massage yesterday, but my quad hadn't completely loosened up. It was also pretty humid again this morning, although it was drizzling a bit during my run so that made it a bit more comfortable. As I mentioned yesterday, I've been doing my long runs on Sat. for so many weeks now that I'm never sure what to do when I switch it to Sun. I think I was running a little bit faster than I should have, but I felt decent (except for the sweat that I had to keep wringing out of my shorts) so I hope tomorrow's run goes okay.
I should also note that I could not find my running shoes anywhere when I was ready to leave this morning. I took great pains to ensure that I would have at least a pair at every "home" this summer, so I knew they had to be somewhere. My dad was the only one up when I was looking for them and he thought about it for a minute and mentioned that he thought he saw some sneakers in the garage. I was like, "The garage??" but yup, that's where they were, with the bikes and old gardening equipment. I guess my mom found them so offensive that she stored them in there!
This morning I came over to Matt's mom's house for her very informal wedding, and then Matt and I hung out by the pool and read (and napped, in my case.) I also lifted a bit but made the conscious decision NOT to cross train (They have an elliptical here) to keep my legs from getting too tire. I seem to have scratched my eye in some way and wearing my contacts is very painful. I hope it gets better soon. Now we are headed out to a fancy Westchester dinner to celebrate the happy couple. I'm hungry, so I'm excited. :)
