Blah workout

When I left the building this morning to do my pre-workout run, the maintenance guy told me it was going to be 95 and dangerously humid. That put me in a great mood, knowing I'd be running again in the heat of the day! But there was a nice breeze and I didn't actually think it was that bad. The bridge was especially crowded today with people walking to work, or maybe they were tourists (I did see some cameras.) Besides dodging the people, I kept an easy, relaxed pace and felt pretty good. The bottoms of my feet and my arches are still sore though--especially when walking around in flip-flops as I tend to do most of the time--which I imagine is still from Sunday's numb feet thing.

I did some work from home today and spent some time cleaning the apartment as well, since we were reprimanded last night by Matt's mom for our messiness. I wouldn't normally care, but she has a point that this really isn't our apartment so we should probably treat it a little differently than we do our Boston place.

When I left to walk to the train and the workout tonight, I was shocked that it wasn't oppressively hot--in fact, it was cool and breezy. I'm still not sure how or when that happened, but I sure was happy about it. Everyone I usually run with at the track showed up right before we got started, so I did my warm-up alone tonight, which always drags. And then our coach divided us into even smaller groups because many people are racing in the USATF Club Championships this Friday and Saturday. (In fact, many of the women I run with are trying the steeple for the first time--very brave! I would NOT be a good candidate for that.)

Anyway, those people racing only did about 4x400, while the rest of us did 10, getting progressively faster. Although we did a similar workout a few weeks ago and did 12x400s, this one tonight felt harder. My times were pretty consistent, but I had no bounce in my step and couldn't really chase anyone down like I sometimes can. I'm attributing at least some of my lethargy to Sunday's race--although I didn't run it too hard, it was a good effort only two days ago. Either way, I'm going to be hurting tomorrow!
