Back in the 'hood

Well, my run today wasn't exactly in my old neighborhood, but it was with the people who used to all run with me in my neighborhood. Two of us lived within a block of one another in DC, so that was the designated meeting spot. Today, since both of us have moved (although J. has not moved out of state like I did!) we met up at a high school in Arlington--site of my old track club's workouts, in fact. (Just parking there made me feel like I was getting ready to do mile repeats with Leilani!)

It was nice to catch up with my old running buddies and run somewhere I haven't in awhile. Turns out I missed a lot of gossip--tons of engagements, weddings and that sort of thing. Now I feel at least a little back in the loop. We ran for about an hour, although I had to add on about 15 minutes at the end to get back to the car because everyone finished in different spots. It was only in the 70s this morning but very sticky. The Gatorade count was 1.5 bottles. Because I was concentrating more on conversation than how I was feeling every single step of the run, I had a better run than I've been used to lately.

When I was almost back to my car, I heard someone yell my name, and it was Audrey in her car on the way home from the pool! It was so weird and coincidental, but really fun to spend a little time catching up. I think I am going to see her for a bit tomorrow night as well.

During the rest of the day, I went back to the Red Cross to see some old co-workers and friends, then to a late lunch with a friend from my PH program, and then lifted very quickly. Tonight we went to our favorite DC sushi place with a couple of friends, Matt's sister and her boyfriend. Matt and his sister continued the celebratory mood by going dancing, but I am going straight to bed! Happy last weekend in July!
