Quiet Sunday

I was very proud of myself for choosing to cross-train today and not to any running, because I felt a little niggle in my achilles last night when I was walking around. The gym won't be open tomorrow until the afternoon for Patriots Day, so I figured I should save my miles for tomorrow morning. I did an elliptical/bike combo and surprisingly time seemed to pass quickly. I would have liked to lift but I really didn't have enough time.

Later today a friend of mine (and occasional blog commentator) who is running tomorrow came over for awhile. I haven't seen her since my wedding almost a year ago and even then I barely got to catch up with her. We met through my DC track club in 2000 and quickly became running buddies and good friends. Then she moved to NYC for a couple of years and now is in grad school in Colorado, so I don't see her much. I know she's going to do great tomorrow, and the best part is that she has such a positive attitude! The two of us have been planning to run a marathon together for years and thought that this Boston would be the one--alas, it was not to be. But maybe in the fall.

I've been doing all right mentally this weekend so far but now I am getting a little depressed. Matt's aunt just called to wish me luck, not knowing about my change of plans, so that made me remember! I appreciate her calling anyway--hopefully the luck will last a year! Anyway, my mood will probably improve tonight as we are going to dinner with two of my best friends from Cornell (and their husbands) who are in town to spectate/volunteer.

Good luck to all Boston runner tomorrow--don't forget to adjust for the temperature and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

I hear that girl from Colorado is WAY cool....that's the word around town, anyway!

It was great to see you and Matty! Come visit me in Boulder!
